Proper and safe disposal of sludge is a legal requirement. Of late, all CETPs in Tamil Nadu have established Secure Landfills for disposal of sludge. The first of its kind, a pilot project established under the UNIDO programme, existing at CETP, Melvisharam, may be seen in the picture below. ILIFO has the technical expertise in design and establishment of such secure landfills. Subsequently, several other CETPs are implementing secure landfill with slight modifications.

COMPOSTING TANNERY SLUDGE
