Objectives

ILIFO came into being primarily to serve the leather industry in India and elsewhere in the South East Asia region in the following manner:

To promote and / or sponsor the development of environment friendly cleaner tanning technologies and end-of-pipe treatment technologies for the wastes emanating from leather industry.
To demonstrate and assist in establishment of process control, low waste technologies, recycling, reuse and end-of-pipe treatment solutions in the tanning and allied industries.
To liaise with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and other bilateral and multilateral funding agencies for securing resources for pursuing its activities.
To organize databank relating to leather industries in India and abroad.
To establish liaison with educational and research institutions, trade associations, and any other agency in any part of the world that may be involved in activities similar to the objectives of ILIFO.
